March Product Updates: New Subscription Option, Smarter Recording, and a Sleeker Quick Share

Discover Canvid's March updates including a new subscription option, video view tracking, smarter recording, and key bug fixes across platforms.

March brought three new updates to Canvid — versions 1.8.0, 1.9.0, and 1.9.1. Some changes are just small fixes, but others are more substantial improvements under the hood to make your screen recording experience smoother, smarter, and easier to share. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s new and better.

A Fresh Way to Subscribe

We’ve rolled out a brand-new subscription option, offering more flexibility for how you use Canvid. Whether you're just getting started or prefer the convenience of a recurring plan, you now have more ways to make Canvid work for you. Of course, the lifetime license is still here if you prefer a one-and-done deal.

Smarter Sharing and Better Insights

We've made sharing smarter and more insightful. Now, you can track views for videos uploaded to Canvid Cloud, giving you a clearer picture of what’s resonating with your audience.

On top of that, we’ve polished the Quick Share feature with a cleaner UI and a simpler, more streamlined workflow. Local file clutter? Gone. From now on, Quick Share is built exclusively for cloud uploads, making the whole process faster and smoother.

Performance Tweaks That Matter

On the performance front, we spent time refining the core of the recording engine. Mac users will notice smaller file sizes that now match the Windows experience. And we’ve smoothed out the project saving process — your project name now shows up in the title bar, making it easier to stay organized.

Behind the scenes, we rewired the recording pipeline to fix rare but frustrating sync issues between audio and webcam footage. If you've ever had to re-record because of a desynced clip — that ends now.

Fixes Worth Noting

Here’s a quick look at some key bugs we squashed this month:

  • 🧠 Fixed a memory leak on Mac that caused RAM to balloon during long recordings
  • 🎙️ Solved issues where your mic and webcam could fall out of sync
  • 🎯 Improved mouse tracking in sleep/wake scenarios
  • 📁 Fixed the “Open Folder” button so it actually opens the folder (imagine that!)
  • 🎥 Resolved camera distortion bugs, especially for users launching from an existing project
  • 🎬 You can now add zooms at the start of the timeline and cut clips without the scrubber jumping to the start

Oh, and if you use captions in right-to-left (RTL) languages, they now display properly too.
