We’re still hard at work on highly requested features like clip speed control, full-screen camera layouts, and importing videos from external sources. In the meantime, this update focuses on stability improvements and delivers major performance boosts to our generative AI features, including audio retakes and synthetic webcam generation.

• New shortcut - Press S to quickly split clips on the timeline.

• Mac permissions - Permissions are now more granular and only requested when needed.

• Fixed hotkey/keyboard labels not rendering correctly when exporting.

• Recording frame rate options - Choose between 30 and 60 fps for screen recordings in Recording Settings
• Zoom and click detection - New trigger options for automatic zooms. Choose which clicks count: All Clicks, Long Clicks, or Ctrl+Click
• Enable or disable individual zooms - You can now toggle zooms on or off. Great if you want to disable them all, then re-enable only the ones you need

• Transcript export improvements - When using Copy as Text or Copy as SRT in the transcript tab, cuts made on the timeline are now respected, so the exported text matches the final video
• Lower resource use when minimized - The editor uses fewer system resources when the window is minimized
• Reduced RAM usage - Large projects now load much more efficiently, with significantly lower memory usage
• Zoom UX improvements - You can now right-click anywhere on a zoom (including its drag and resize handles) for easier access to options
• Unsaved changes safety - If you try to quit from the tray while the main window is minimized and there are unsaved changes, the app comes to the front so you can save first
• Project load fallback - Better handling when a project fails to load, with clearer messaging and a safe recovery path
• Advanced Settings - Moved the debug settings to their own dedicated settings tab for better organization

Canvid 2.0 is finally here! Packed with highly requested roadmap features and brand new AI tools to speed up your workflow, including AI Audio Retakes (BETA) and Synthetic Webcam Generation (BETA). As these features are still in beta, we’ve documented a few known issues you can check out here.

• AI Audio Replacements – Made a mistake during your recording? Highlight the transcript, record or generate new audio, and Canvid will sync it with your webcam automatically.
• Synthetic Webcam Generation – Forgot to record your webcam or just not camera ready? Create a synthetic webcam using footage from another project and AI will sync it to match.
• Show Hotkeys – Let viewers see which hotkey combinations you pressed during your recording.
• Click Effects – Add a ripple click animation to make your clicks more noticeable, no zoom needed.
• Copy Transcript – Copy your transcript as plain text or as an SRT file to use wherever you like.
• Audio Waveform Preview – See the audio waveform directly on the timeline for easier editing, navigation, and alignment.

• Fixed an issue where an error would occur upon selection of words from the transcript
• Fixed an issue where logging out wouldn't completely clear the logged in state

The final release before 2.0! A lot of this release is finalizing preparations for the upcoming 2.0 but still includes some nice new improvements, fixes and features.

• Local and Cloud Recordings – Added a new option in the File menu to quickly access both your local and cloud recordings.
• Disable Notifications While Recording – Prevent interruptions by muting system notifications while recording.
• Hover Scrubber on Timeline – A new ghost scrubber appears when hovering over the timeline, showing where the play-head will move if you click.

• Log Generation Flow – When generating logs, a modal now appears to confirm the process is running and blocks other actions. Once complete, you can open the folder containing the generated logs.
• Export Resolution Info – If you select an export resolution higher than the original recording, an inline message now explains that you may see minimal benefit and a larger file size.
• Smaller Install Size – Cleaned up the installer by removing unnecessary files to reduce overall size.

• Improved Cloud Upload Failures – Better handling of cases where uploading to the cloud or creating a share link fails.
• Window Capture on Mac – Fixed a bug where Window Capture could fail with certain applications on macOS.
• Zoom Calculation on Cropped Recordings – Resolved an issue where automatic zooms were not calculated correctly after cropping a screen recording.
• Transcript Repetition Bug – Fixed a problem where transcripts could be missing words and include repeated phrases.
• Zoom Disable Action – Corrected an issue where the disable zoom action did not always work as expected.

• The app will now ask if you want to save on close after recording a new project
